Gillian Maltz & Ariadne Meriwether are a comedy writing duo based in LA. Best friends and Canadians both born on March 24th, Gillian and Ariadne joke that they were separated at birth and flung to opposite sides of the country. On the East Coast, Gillian grew up the only daughter and non-engineer in her neurotic Jewish family. She gave up on fitting in after she was typecast as the elderly matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof at age eleven. On the West Coast, Ariadne found that life as a fraternal twin in an on-and-off marriage household made two things abundantly clear: family dysfunction is a well for comedy, and comedy is the spice of life. Together, Gillian and Ariadne write female-driven comedies about how love is a worthwhile misadventure.

Gillian and Ariadne’s scripts have placed at the Austin Film Festival (2024, 2025) and won the Jack Oakie & Victoria Horne Oakie Comedy Award (2024). Their webseries, BIRTHDAY GIRLS, which they wrote, directed, and produced, came out in 2025.

Gillian and Ariadne hold MFAs in Writing for Screen and Television from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. They are represented by Jason Lubin at First Story Entertainment.
